Size?Selective Photoelectrochemical Reactions in Microporous Environments: Clark Probe Investigation of Pt@g?C <sub>3</sub> N <sub>4</sub> Embedded into Intrinsically Microporous Polymer (PIM?1)

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) with photo-attached platinum (Pt@g-C3N4) is known to generate hydrogen under illumination in aqueous environments the presence of carbohydrate hole quenchers. Here, Pt@g-C3N4 embedded into a polymer intrinsic microporosity (PIM-1) host material molecularly rigid structure maintain active unblocked catalyst surfaces and control transport to/from photocatalyst. A Clark-type oxygen/hydrogen sensor employed PIM-1 applied as film be gas-permeable membrane. Oxygen reduction production are observed situ function light exposure quencher concentration. Significant size-selectivity favouring smaller more flexible saccharides or carbohydrate/ hydrocarbon quenchers attributed rate limiting micropore transport. Effective through Teflon membrane demonstrated. The underlying production/ photocurrent enhancing effects microporous on photochemical process revealed.

Two-photon fluorescent microporous bithiophene polymer via Suzuki cross-coupling.

A microporous bithiophene polymer (MBP) stable up to 460 °C was synthesized using bithiophene and biphenyl as building blocks through Suzuki cross-coupling. The as-obtained MBP product exhibits green fluorescence peaked at 530 nm, and most interestingly, a two-photon fluorescence was observable from MBP upon excitation by an 800 nm femtosecond laser.

Microporous polymer network films covalently bound to gold electrodes.

Covalent attachment of a microporous polymer network (MPN) on a gold surface is presented. A functional bromophenyl-based self-assembled monolayer (SAM) formed on the gold surface acts as co-monomer in the polymerisation of the MPN yielding homogeneous and robust coatings. Covalent binding of the films to the electrode is confirmed by SEIRAS measurements.
